About

This blog was originally created as a public forum for From The Sporting Past To Future Wellbeing: Intergenerational Sports Heritage in Glasgow’s Southside, a project funded as part of the AHRC’s new research theme Care for the future. Using various resources, including film, newspapers, magazines, photographs and oral testimony the project is exploring the history and meaning of sport in communities through intergenerational collaboration between the academic researcher, primary school children and experienced members of Glasgow Southside’s sports community.

The blog now continues as a general forum for Sports Heritage themes, and is also the host website for the exhibition Host and Champions: Scotland in the Commonwealth Games which featured as part of Festival 2014 at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow. The exhibition draws on the holdings of the Commonwealth Games Scotland Archive held at the University of Stirling. The exhibition is now touring Scotland and was supported by the Big Lottery Celebrate fund and Legacy 2014.
